Wood Works for Women!
Are you looking to do something creative in your life? Do you want to make other like-minded women, make new friends and improve your health and wellbeing while making beautiful things ?
Did you know that working with wood can transform your mood and health? It improves your heart rate, increased happiness and self-esteem levels, increases cognitive abilities, decreased stress response?
Experience how working with your hands, wood and power tools can make you feel POWERFUL and you can be your Fabulous Confident Self again.
This is very special gathering for women who want to join us for this special day of working with wood, sharing stories, ideas and skills and have banter over healthy lunch which is included in our offer.
On the Day:
The gathering starts with a sharing circle and discussing the projects you always wanted to make but never had confidence or resources, energy to start with. With Xmas fast approaching this is a great way to generate ideas what gifts we could make ourselves and how to be resourceful so our gifts don’t cost the earth and are on the budget.
Using recycled and reclaimed wood, experienced Tutor Mark Evans from Make Liverpool – who has ten years’ joinery experience under his tool belt, and a bachelor’s degree in fine art to go with it – will walk you through the steps to crafting your beautiful box centrepiece to take home!
In this safe and friendly workshop, you will learn how to plan your work, where and how to buy suitable wood for use in making simple projects at home. You will use the tools you will need to build a basic kit and the day includes a demonstration on having a go at various drilling techniques and how to make pilot holes!
You will learn how to measure and cut accurately, how to use a chopsaw, to make a classic wood joint and how to use belt sander to make your wood smooth. You will drill the holes to glue and screw your work together.
This workshop is suitable for all ages. Small class size = plenty of attention. For those aged between 10 and 18, an older guardian can accompany them on the course if required. Please let us know if you intend to do this.
All personal protection and use of tools and materials are included.
